Active Violence Emergency Response Training Instructor Development Course (AVERT IDC) is a blended, hybrid course that prepares students to teach others the necessary skills required to react effectively in an active shooter or other life-threatening scenario.
Students must complete an online portion prior to their hands-on skills training at our facility. The online portion’s duration is an estimated two hours. The in-person skills session’s duration is an estimated 6-7 hours. The online portion will be sent to students before their class. Upon completion of the online portion, students will receive a certificate of completion which they must bring with them to their hands-on training.
Students who purchase this course will receive an AVERT Instructor Kit that includes:
- 15 training tourniquets
- 15 wound simulators with gauze
- 10 distraction objects
- 1 orange rifle replica
- 1 orange handgun replica
- 1 TAC+PAC
- 1 large backpack style bag
The AVERT Instructor Kit will be shipped directly to students from the Health and Safety Institute (HSI) prior to the start of class. As such, students are REQUIRED to complete and return to us the registration form attached to their confirmation email a minimum TWO WEEKS PRIOR to the start of their class. The AVERT IDC will close for registration two weeks prior in order to allow time for shipping.
School Notes: All of the courses that we have students sign up for through CourseHorse are skills sessions. Skills sessions require that the student complete an online testing portion through the American Heart Association, that online testing portion is a separate charge from our class fee for facilitating the skills session in the class room.
We offer full provider classes that are all done in class without the need to complete an online test before the class starts.
