Description

This comprehensive course provides essential training in the technical operation and mechanical assembly of professional cinematography equipment. You will develop a thorough understanding of all critical components that comprise a professional camera system and gain hands-on familiarity with the operation and capabilities of professional tripod systems and fluid pan-tilt heads. The course examines the design principles of camera support systems, including how form influences function, as well as all supplementary accessories that extend the camera body and lens capabilities. You will study the routing and management of electronics, power distribution systems, cable types, connectors, and their specific applications. Additionally, the course covers comprehensive lens design principles and optical functionality, and you will practice assembling complete camera bodies with lenses and supporting equipment.

Core Topics Covered:

  • Assembling a complete camera system, including setup and operation of fluid head systems and professional tripod platforms
  • Understanding lens specifications and options; selecting and using matteboxes, lens support systems, baseplate solutions, and follow focus systems
  • Selecting appropriate filters and understanding filter applications
  • Evaluating battery systems and power distribution options for location work
  • Managing cable connections and routing for complex systems
  • Selecting equipment cases and bags for safe transport and protection
  • Practical production advice and best practices for on-location filming

If a participant is unable to attend for any reason, you may transfer registration to an alternate date or location, or use the full credit towards a different workshop.

You may also transfer enrollment to someone else, but you must provide the updated registrant information prior to the start of the class.

If unable to attend, you must notify CourseHorse within 48 hours prior to the scheduled start time.

We reserve the right to cancel or postpone classes in the event of low enrollment or forces beyond our control. If the instructor is sick or unable to attend, we will notify attendees 48 hours in advance of class to reschedule for a later date.

In any event where a customer wants to cancel their enrollment and is eligible for a full refund, a 5% processing fee will be deducted from the refund amount.
