"Five after Five" - Liberating Structures Evening Immersion Series
Liberating Structures are simple, elegant and easy shifts in the methods we use to bring people together to talk, think and solve problems together. They are called “liberating” because they are designed to include and engage everybody – liberating, so to speak, everybody’s contributions and deeply held wisdom and creativity. They stimulate better conversations, deeper thinking, and greater engagement.
Taken individually, each of the 33+ methods change the way results are generated by a group. As a repertoire of complementary methods, they address many chronic challenges faced by groups. The precise and simple way each Liberating Structure is specified makes it possible for anyone to quickly start using them.
Developed by Keith McCandless and Henry Lipmanowicz, Liberating Structures is a codified set of 33 practices, carefully selected from other areas and brought together for a bigger impact. Just like letters in the alphabet, Liberating Structures can be combined into words or "Strings" that bring their effectiveness to the next level.
Immersion Workshops are designed to introduce participants to a large number of Liberating Structures very rapidly – it’s a fast cycle “see one, do one, teach one, do another one” method of learning. The idea is to create awareness of the range of possibilities that Liberating Structures open up.
