MEZUZAH MAKING – A JEWISH STUDIO PROJECT
The Jewish Studio Project is part of a broader movement exploring the fertile integration of Jewish learning and the ‘arts.’ Jewish study has always been a creative enterprise, but one dominated by words and the intellect at the expense of our our other senses and creative faculties.
This class will engage participants in the process of creating a ritual item used to dedicate a home or sacred space, a mezuzah. We will explore the traditional texts and symbols of a mezuzah through a variety of artistic media, from sound and music, to color and form. Together we will draw and paint, cut and paste, tap and hum, sculpt and build.
This course is available for "remote" learning and will be available to anyone with access to an internet device with a microphone (this includes most models of computers, tablets). Classes will take place with a "Live" instructor at the date/times listed below.
Upon registration, the instructor will send along additional information about how to log-on and participate in the class.
